I’ve just had a holiday in Ireland! The weather could not have been better at the end of the week, and I swear someone must’ve been watching down and shifted the cold away from us.
First stop? The Jameson Distillery!
Swallowed by my scarf a little bit!
The three whiskeys were: Johnny Walker Black, Jameson, and Jack Daniels. I only tasted the Jameson (I promptly exclaimed I would combust if I tasted any more, so I left the other two untouched) but was told that the Johnny Walker was also excellent!
Complimentary drinks afterwards! You are given the choice of either Jameson straight or a Jameson/Ginger Ale/Lime, their house drink and one that was delicious. After our tour (which was lovely and just the right amount of time) we went off in search of lunch, and then headed to the Guinness Storehouse.
FIVE lamps beer!
We made it just in time for the last ten minutes of breakfast! A full Irish was just what the doctor ordered.
The Guinness tour is self-guided, so while it may not be your cup of tea, both Jack and I loved the freedom we had to look around and take photos.
We opted for our free pint in the pouring room. We each had a perfect pour, and now I have a fun story: my first ever pint of Guinness is a pint I poured myself in the Guinness Storehouse. How crazy!
A walk in the park and St. Patrick’s Cathedral were next on the itinerary.
There was a special exhibit in the cathedral on Jonathan Swift, and they had his death mask on display!
We did some shopping and a lot of pub crawling that day. The above photo is at No Name Bar. It is unmarked, and is essentially someone’s living room. Very cool, lovely drinks, wonderful atmosphere.
Finally, a pub with my name on it! Couldn’t have found a cooler photo spot.
We loved Ireland! I wish we could’ve stayed longer, but duty calls and so does schoolwork. While we didn’t make it our to Cork or Galway, I know that I will eventually see the rolling green hills somewhere other than a plane window.
