It starts with magazine and moves to book, and let me tell you, it never gets any easier.
It was my 21st birthday just a week ago, and it was my favorite birthday yet. I got to spend the whole day with my family, took my dad to his first tea, and went to an insanely good dinner to top it all off. While not the most conventional 21st birthday (no 21 shots, no paddles, no hangover), I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
This past weekend my friends and I took a trip to Munich for the famed Frühlingsfest (Springfest).
It is like Oktoberfest, but on a much much smaller scale. Jack and I were first to arrive and wasted no time getting out into the city! We took a few minutes in the residence to look up directions, then set off in the direction of the beer halls.
About a year ago I stumbled upon Beau and Ro online.
Then, they were making clutches that turned into what are technically fanny packs, but the most stylish fanny packs you will ever see. They call them “belt bags” which I think is a much better name for them.
Now the company has grown into new combos including large clutch/crossbody, wristlet, and tote/backpack. While I’ve been drooling over them for the past year, I unfortunately have yet to buy one. However, below are my favorites from the site!
We’ve made it to Prague! After a delayed flight and a confusing entrance to our Air BnB (don’t worry, we got in just fine and the man who let us in was very nice!) we are in and comfortable.
We immediately sprinted out to find food because we were all STARVING after waiting so long between meals. Luckily enough we came upon a pizza place with a live band (playing Hakuna Matata no less) and an atmosphere that each of us agreed was exactly what we wanted from Prague.
Everything here is so inexpensive compared to London. We each had a pizza and 1-2 beers and were immensely satisfied.
I really want a purple lipstick.
Not a lame reddish purple kinda faded so no one can see it but you feel accomplished because you tried purple and that’s out of your comfort zone kind of lipstick, but a deep, vampy, stay-all-day purple that makes me feel cool and look
ridiculous even better.
I’ve been weighing my options and seeing that I am fair skinned a cool-toned, Maybe smoked purple by MAC? But I’m afraid I’ll buy it and never use it.
The cooler it becomes, the more I want to add leather to my wardrobe.
On Wednesdays it is what we call “dress up day” for most of Greek life on my campus. Lately, I’ve been wearing my Urban Outfitters black leather skirt with a cashmere or cable knit sweater, thick tights, and black booties. The leather is perfect for the cooler weather, but I can’t wear the same skirt each Wednesday! (I’m sure no one would notice, but it makes me feel uncomfortable because I know I’ve worn it.) On the way back to school this weekend (hooray for visits to home!) I realized something.
It was a perfect fall day.
The air was crisp, my sweater wasn’t making me roast, and the sun was shining in a way that did not cause buckets of sweat to pour from me as I baked in my perfectly puffy vest.
And I say, that calls for some perfectly lazy autumn tunes.

Don’t you want to lie on a blanket with a latte and some scones and just cozy up and look at the autumn sky and the trees changing and feel the cool breeze on your cheek until you remember that while outdoors it is really difficult to sit still and you become antsy and force the person you’re with to pack up and go for a walk instead or run around until you’re sweating in your super cute fall clothes that you carefully chose after four outfit changes?
Yeah, me too.
Something I don’t want in my room while abroad: stark white walls.
I really want to make my room functional and homey all at once, and I think the first order of business will be to find a map of London that I especially enjoy, and plaster it on the wall where I can study it before bed. I want to try tracing the paths I took before I fall asleep at night, and maybe I’ll be able to navigate my way a little better through both visual and physical exercise every day and night.
Now does anyone know where to find a good map when I get there…?
So, if you have read my bio, or know me, or have come into contact with me at all, you probably figured out that I’m planning to study abroad in London in the Spring of 2015.
Well. I was just accepted yesterday, and I am freaking out.
Not in a bad way, just in a way where my mind is racing because I’ve been planning this since I was ten years old and now my ten year plan is coming true, and how many people can say that something they planned ten years ago is happening is real life? I cannot stop beaming and I am meditating on my luck and blessings every second I can take.
The most exciting thought that is racing through my mind is that I will attend the University College London. Most don’t know what exactly that is, but it is a top London university. In the 2014/2015 QS World University Rankings it is number five overall and number fifteen for both academic and international reputation. UCL is part of Britain’s Russell Group, which is similar to the Ivy League.
Essentially, I will attend a top world university for five months and I feel like crying because I am so happy and so shocked that after waiting for this response for so long I received exactly what I wished.
The countdown begins. T-minus threeish months until departure. Hopefully I can keep my focus on school here until then!
